The Christina Noble Children's Foundation is dedicated to helping children in need with education, medical care, social opportunities, and job placement. All of this is done with love, dignity and respect for each child as an individual.
The Christina Noble Children's Foundation is an International Partnership of people dedicated to serving children in need of emergency and long-term medical care, nutritional rehabilitation, educational opportunities, vocational training, job placement and the protection of children at risk of economic and sexual exploitation. The Foundation seeks to maximize the potential of each child. This is accomplished within the context of the family and the community whenever possible and always with love and respect for the dignity of each child as an individual.
Vietnam
In 1989 with the goal to assist children in need, Christina Noble arrived in Vietnam. With a determination to alleviate the suffering of the children she knew from her own background , she set about raising money. An Oil Company with a local office helped her start up with a grant of $10,000. She also sang in clubs and made speeches, all in an effort to raise money to help this plight. Now known affectionately by the street children as "Mama Tina", she has achieved remarkable results in the lives of many children.
Mongolia
Christina Noble travelled to Mongolia in April 1997 and pledged to raise money internationally and return to help the plight of street children and children in poor families in this country. Christina designed projects around the specific Mongolian conditions and culture, while also building on her experience in Vietnam. Initial research discovered a complex street children problem, with children organised into gangs and surviving on petty crime, along with an alarming increase in children dropping out of school throughout the country.
The greatest challenge that the Foundation identified was to reach into families and try to help them escape this cycle of poverty by helping to keep the children in school and at home. It was from this need that the Sponsorship Project was born.
The Foundation also identified a need among children on the street who were not part of a gang and who were trying to fend for themselves by begging and scavenging. Some said that they dreamed of being put into prison "because it is warm there, and they feed you". Christina resolved to open a shelter or sanctuary for these children. Because the Mongolians are so strongly traditional and so many (in the city as well as the country) live in gers, she decided to build a Ger Village where the children could be safe, attend local schools and grow up to be independent, healthy adults. The Ger Village opened at the beginning of November 1997, and the number of other CNCF projects have quickly increased since this time.

| About Christina Noble
Christina Noble is the founder and driving force behind the Foundation. Christina's passion for children's rights is rooted in her own horrendous upbringing. Christina knows what it's like to be young, homeless and desperate.
It was during this particularly low ebb in her life around 1971 that she had a dream about Vietnam. This was a dream which she would one day triumphantly fulfil, albeit 20 years later. In 1989, with the goal to assist children in need, Christina arrived in Vietnam.
Against all odds, Christina set up the Foundation in Ho Chi Minh City where the number of projects has grown considerably. In 1997, Christina expanded CNCF's operations into Mongolia but she still remains the principal driving force and inspiration and and retains close personal contact with the children. Visit the CNCF site for more information on Christina Noble. |
